I created this Close Read for Pumpkins for first and second graders. There are comprehension questions modeled after the TRC stems.
This is a non-fiction close read. There is not any mention of Halloween in the close reading passage. You get two sets of questions for the passages. These passages are great for guided reading, independent reading. I have also used them for Listen to Reading in Daily 5 Rotations. The passages are designed for many uses. I also use them in a reading practice notebook. The reading practice notebook is a composition notebook that includes the passages we have worked on throughout the year. The children glue the passages in with a glue stick. They can practice reading throughout the day. When the end of the year arrives they have reading they can practice throughout the summer! I love getting them ready for success!!!
