Reflection Writing for Martin Luther Day by First Graders
The children created the work for this bulletin board right outside of our classroom last year. We are doing a similar activity this week.  We have a very weird schedule this wee….. MLK Day off and two work days at the end of the week. I started last week with my unit and will continue on between Reading  3D and DIBELS! The doves are made of paper plates. We completed our writing after reading several books about Martin Luther King Jr. You can get the writing sheet here on Google Drive free. They wrote their opinions….I think and Martin Luther King Jr. thought. The children did a great job with this activity. I wish I could share all of their writing. It was wonderful to read their own opinions and then have them write what they thought Martin Luther King Jr. opinions are. It shows that our little ones are able to think deeply when they have been given time to develop ideas. I love using this format as part of my Close Reading instruction in first grade.. It works with characters from books also.  It is about getting in the heads of characters and using text evidence!
All the best,
Sarah
